Operation Shiloh – Israeli Counter-Terrorism Training

The Bunn Commercial Coffee Maker was a joint Christmas present to me and my husband, but I figure that since I am the one home all day, I can claim it! The Bunn is exactly the one I wanted and its said to be one of the best espresso coffee makers. Actually, we have had a Bunn Coffee Maker for many years, and enjoy how quickly they will produce a pot of coffee. The one we had was slowing down from old age I guess…hey, it happens to the best of us. And, to top it all off, the poor old Bunn we had was suffering from some kind of warp syndrome.

Always looking for a bargain, I had found the old Bunn Coffee maker at one of those discount surplus stores. It was brand new, still in the box, but it was also a little malformed. The top part where the basket slides in had a slight tilt to it, so there wasn’t much room for the coffee pot to slide into it’s spot.

Bunn Commercial Coffee MakerAfter several years, and a trillion pots of coffee being made in the old Bunn Coffee Maker, it drooped even more. It made trying to get the pot off of the warmer very interesting some times. If you weren’t careful you could even drag the basket of coffee grounds out with it, creating quite a mess at times.

Apparently, my husband and I cussed and complained one to many times when our son and daughter-in-law were over for coffee. It could have also been because my son got stuck making a few pots of coffee in it too. The rule at our house is if you are the one to empty the coffee pot, you are also the one to make a fresh pot of coffee.

Whatever the reason was, my son and daughter-in-law decided that a new Bunn Commercial Coffee Maker would make us an ideal Christmas present. They sure were right too. This new Bunn Coffee Maker is a stylish black with silver trim, and looks quite well with my stainless steel kitchen appliances.

And, it will brew a pot of coffee in less than 3 minutes. This is very important in our family of avid coffee drinkers, where there is always a pot of coffee on and ready for drinking. The Bunn Coffee maker is that fast because it always has hot water sitting in it’s reservoir tank. When you pour in the pot of cold water, it pushes the hot out into the brewing basket.

The reservoir tank has an 800 watt heater and a 34 watt ‘keep warm” heater in it. The warming plate is 46 watts, which means the entire pot operates at 900 watt maximum. The best thing about always having the hot water supply is that you can just run a pot of hot water for tea, or hot chocolate. If you can catch it without a pot of coffee sitting on the warmer, which at my house is near impossible.

The Bunn Coffee Maker comes with a 3 year warranty, but they usually last for a very long time, with proper care. Unless, like me, you try to get a slightly malformed bargain Bunn! The Bunn Coffee Maker is a little more expensive, costing about $100.00, but it is worth it in the long run, as they last a long time. The speed and efficiency of the coffee maker is great for those who just can not do without their coffee.

The are only a couple disadvantages that I can see with the Bunn Coffee Maker. You can only use Bunn filters in it. Cheaper, generic filters are too short and the coffee grounds runs over into the pot. The Bunn Coffee maker doesn’t have a timer on it, and you can’t use an external timer to wake up to coffee either.

Oh well, when it only takes 3 minutes to brew, I guess the wait for that first morning cup of coffee is not so bad. Grab a cup of coffee and enjoy it with me, won’t you? Here’s to a Christmas present I’ll enjoy for years to come. Thanks kids….

This summer, two of my best friends and myself headed out on a cross country trip from Burlington, NJ to Long Beach, CA. We knew the journey was going to be rough since we were tight on cash, but we planned accordingly; still we forgot so many vital things. For future reference, and to help readers out, here’s a list of what I consider 10 things you can’t leave the house without.
An Atlas or GPS is going to be your best friend when you get into or near a city that is foreign to you. You really never need these things on the open road, highway signs and common sense can guide you to your next destination, but when you get into town, you become a little more lost than you thought. A GPS can tell you the coordinates of everything from food, hotels, places to go, things to see, and more. In Nashville Tennessee I sprained my ankle skateboarding, and used the GPS to get us to the closest hospital. Personally, I would say having one or the other or both would be in your best interest.

Roadside Assistance may actually be more important than the GPS, which is weird because you would think knowing which way to go was useful information. Actually, having a service on call that will be able to help you, will save your butt from sleeping in the desert. Roadside services, like AAA, USAA, and OnStar, can really help when you do something stupid like lock your keys in the car, or when something goes wrong and your engine blows. These kind of things are bound to happen, I don’t want to scare you, but everything can’t be perfect. It usually can be solved easily, but paying a tow truck driver is the last thing you want to do when your in the middle of nowhere and need that cash.

Tools of all styles, types, and sizes; very important. At least tools that are sized for your car or whatever your driving. Somethings to think about are jacks, wrenches, mallets, screwdrivers, and spare parts. You might need to do an oil change or tighten your wheel nuts; who knows. Along with that, bring spare fluids like brake fluid, antifreeze, water, oil, and power steering fluid. These supplied could give you a quick save when you need it most.

The osprey backpack from travelcollectivegroup; I highly recommend it over and roof carrying case out there. The reason being: it’s flexible, you can cram stuff in there or barely fill it. It’s cool to put all the stuff up there you don’t really need, like your duffel bag full of clothes, and anything else you aren’t using on a hourly basis.

Food that doesn’t expire quickly is great to bring along, and very important to your lasting health. Listen to me, if you don’t bring food, you must buy food, and unless your the Big Mac eating champion, your stomach isn’t gonna like it. Seriously, I had trouble digesting the amounts of fast food I was eating, I would get really sick. Your body really isn’t made to handle toxins like that for more than a couple days, and I was eating at least one fast food meal a day. If you wanna feel good on the trip, bring good food. It’s as simple as that.

Energy supplements or coffee are going to be your best friend at 5:00 AM, if you happen to get stuck with that morning shift like I did. Depending on which direction your driving, the sun will be gleaming in your eyes and you are going to be tired even if you rested. Honestly it could be the difference between safety and crashing the vehicle. Your eyelids are really going to wanna shut, so stay awake anyway you can, everyone will thank you.

Car chargers for all of your electronic devices will be really important if you want to text during your trip or browse the internet, or need to charge your camera. There are 2 I highly recommend. First would be this here outlet and USB port combination; which is going to plug into the cigarette lighter and charge something with a plug and something USB charged at the same time. Also, I think that this universal charger is pretty important ; it can charge any battery, AA, AAA, phone, camera, or camcorder batteries, or anything. It’s lot nicer to have one or 2 chargers laying around than a jumbled mess of 15 wires all tangled around the center console.

A laptop will be useful sometimes, especially if you don’t have internet on your phone. You’re almost never going to be able to get wifi on the road, and sometimes not even in restaurants or stores, but you will eventually find a place to sit down and browse the web, which can be a relief to know you’ve just deleted the 200 emails that came in three days.

An mp3 player stocked to full capacity with all kinds of music is gonna be the relaxer for you and all of your friends. There really has to be enough music to listen to something different everyday, otherwise it’s gonna get old really fast and you’re probably going to be annoyed and hate noise for a while. The best thing to do is bring different iPods or switch between the radio and iPod when you can. I know this sounds stupid, but really, you mind as well sing “99 Bottles” at that point.

People you actually like are actually the most important thing you can bring on a road trip. I don’t know if this counts as a “thing”, but even your best friends are going to annoy you after you’ve been in the car with them for weeks, so please don’t bring someone just because they have money or really want to go; you’re probably going to rip your hair out at some point.

Once you go online and start looking for the best gaming laptop reviews you’ll most likely stumble upon a wide variety of different opinions. If you create a new thread in any of the bigger gaming forums asking which gaming laptop is the best you’ll literally get swamped with answers that are completely different from each other. As you can imagine, there’s a lot of gaming laptops that are great for gamers just like you or a loved one — you just gotta know which one to pick.

You might feel like you’re missing out on something by not buying the most expensive gaming laptop, but in reality you’re not. There is no definitive answer as to which gaming laptop is the best. You’re gonna have to make a smart decision based on a few criteria.

Start Here

Whenever someone’s hunting for the best gaming laptops I hope someone tells them this is the place where you’re supposed to start off your journey. In my opinion the first place you should look is at the ASUS GX501.

Speed is your friend when it comes to gaming laptops. The higher the processing speed the better. Needless to say, one of the most important aspects of a gaming laptop is the speed. It’s what marks your gaming laptop from regular laptops. The average laptop won’t provide you with the speed needed to play your favorite games in a mobile way.

Today you should be looking for gaming laptops with a dual or quad-core processor. The Intel Core i5 and i7 processors are quite famous for being great.

You’ll need at least 2GB of RAM as a bare minimum. Get as much RAM as possible. It’s not too expensive in today’s market. Your gaming laptop will be using the RAM to run heavy games and applications.

Luckily, there’s gaming laptops with 4 and 8 GB of RAM.

Look for at least 320GB of hard drive and a speed of 7200 RPMs. Needless to say, videos, photos, games and music take up enormous amounts of space on your gaming laptop. You’ll need at least 320 GB of hard drive space on your gaming laptop to store a couple of today’s games.

Also, if you get the choice — try going for a so-called SSD hard drive and not just an average hard drive. SSD stands for Solid State Drive. SSD’s are the future, so you might as well get yourself one now and you won’t have to upgrade your newly bought gaming laptop at all next year.

Get the largest screen for your budget. Gaming laptops need quite big displays contrary to average laptops. Today’s gaming laptops are available with a screen size of 15″ all the way up to 20″ or more. I suggest you find a laptop whose screen is able to play stuff in HD — which means much, much better playing of your high-end games.

Keep the things above in mind when looking for a gaming laptop and I don’t doubt that you’ll find the best gaming laptop quickly.

Zatarain’s makes amazing side dishes that can be spiced up into a main meal. Today we tried the Red Beans and Rice Spicy version. This was simple to make. All you have to add to this is water and oil. The oil is optional. The box says that you can add ¼ of a cup less water if you want your rice to be less saucy. This is the way I made it since it would be used as a side dish on a plate.

To cook the red beans and rice, you just boil water, oil, and the packet of red beans, rice, and spices. Once it reaches a boil, you turn the burner down to a simmer and cover it. You then let it cook for about 25 minutes and just stir it once in awhile. There is also a microwave option but I did not try it this way.

One thing I loved about this was that it came out perfect. The rice or beans were not hard at all. Some other box dishes with rice do not come out this well. It was the perfect amount of time to cook it.

The box says that it has 4 servings in it. One serving contains 200 calories. It has 0g of fat, 890 mg of sodium, 40g of carbohydrate, 5g of dietary fiber, and 7g of protein.

We had chicken fajitas for dinner and this was a perfect side dish. I did not add any meat to it at all even though you can if you want to make it go further or make a meal out of it. Sausage would be a good addition to this box. It was plenty of food. We had leftovers and if you added meat to it would feed a family of four easy.

The red beans and rice were the spicy version. These were just a bit too spicy for me and the kids could not eat them at all. When comparing different Zatarain’s products, I would have to say that the normal kind is just right for me. Mild is not enough spice and spicy is too much. You will have to try the different kinds and decide which spice is right for you.

Zatarain’s New Orleans Style Red Beans and Rice is a great product if you enjoy New Orleans style meals. It is affordable and makes a great side dish or meal for any family. Ricecookerworld has recommended you make this with a new rice cooker though!
